The XMB is rumoured to be included in the upcoming Firmware 2.40 patch, expected to release sometime this summer for the PlayStation 3 console.
However not all titles will support the custom user-music nor the trophies system, which is being left optional in any case for developers to decide upon themselves.
Sony is said to be going through all back-titles in its library to test whether the XMB will work to allow features like in-game messaging, and to see if the new menu system safely operates without glitching the games.
Both the user-music and trophies system will only be able to work on already released titles if the developer studios work on patches for the games. The development tools for the two features have only now just been given to the teams.
More details should be available in the forthcoming months when hopefully Sony will release a more specific release schedule.
