Boss John Riccitiello of publisher EA has said how an even greater drop to just 30 games a year is a possibility, as 1,500 jobs are set to go.
EA rationalized the drop in titles saying it would increase the quality of what they do make. Hopefully that means less casual rubbish.
”Thirty wouldn’t shock me at some point in the future,” EA CEO Riccitiello told Reuters, reports Kotaku. As they unveiled their plans to snip 1,500 from the global payroll by March end 2010, a number of studios closed or ‘converged’ with games canned.
One title thought lost, but has since been confirmed, was Pandemic’s new Mercenaries instalment called ‘Mercs Inc’. From the leaked internal clip it showed a lot of multiplayer mayhem, which is where all these videogames go nowadays.
