According to sources, Atari are spit polishing the Neverwinter Nights IP for MMO duty and the newly acquired Cryptic are the ones to deliver it by 2011.
Currently Cryptic are also busy with Champions Online and Star Trek Online. While project specifics need a touch of scrying, Atari may have bought Cryptic ideally for this one MMO.
”Sources tell us that the developer is working on a massively multiplayer online (MMO) version of “Neverwinter Nights” with an eyed 2011 release,” reports Variety.
This could be Atari’s ace up their sleeve but it comes at great risk, it could very well decide the fate of the company itself. BioWare worked on the much beloved and modded original Neverwinter Nights, so can Cryptic and Atari entice those avid fans?
The MMO arena is getting ever fiercer and by the time it releases it will be competing with some very strong opponents - not to mention the seemingly invincible World of Warcraft numbers. Does a Neverwinter Nights MMO tickle your fancy, videogamer?
