Over the past few years, Phasmophobia has celebrated the end of the year with a festive Christmas Holiday Winter Event, complete with a decorated lobby, a special challenge, and ghosts donning holiday attire.
Despite experiencing several setbacks with the console ports now being released, Kinetic Games managed to orchestrate October’s Halloween Event, and we don’t think it will stop them from maintaining the Christmas schedule either. It’s a fixed tradition now that will continue each year.
When does Phasmophobia's Christmas Holiday Event start and end?
Kinetic Games has finally confirmed Phasmophobia’s Winter’s Jest Christmas Event for 2024. The final event of the year will be live in-game from 12pm UTC, 12 December 2024 through to 23:59PM UTC, 31 December 2024.
The community will once again be working together, as was the case with the Blood Moon Event for Halloween, to achieve a set of shared goals to receive rewards.
There will be a scoring system that offers greater bonuses for completing challenges at higher difficulties, making progress feel “quicker and more satisfying” throughout the event.
Snowfall
During Winter’s Jest, a selection of maps will be blanketed in snow and adorned with festive decorations, but they will also play host to something incredibly sinister. Stay vigilant, Ghost Hunters.

Community Goal
We won’t know much until we get to play it on the 12th, but what we do know is that it will feature discoverable jack-in-the-box items. Opening these will grant points towards the overall Community Goal.
As with the Halloween Event, we expect to see three stages of rewards, and each time a stage is completed, you will be able to interact with the Event Altar to claim that stage’s rewards.
Kinetic Games plans to improve future events with:
- Auto-claiming for Event Rewards
- Improved rewards for individual players
- Map rotation during events
Start and End Dates
- Phasmophobia’s Christmas Holiday Event Start Date: 12 December at 12pm GMT
- Phasmophobia’s Christmas Holiday Event End Date: 31 December at 12pm GMT.
“Our community is everything” stated Daniel Knight, CEO and Lead Developer, at Kinetic Games. “We have designed these in-game events as a Thank You to our players. We are taking their feedback on board and intend to continue adding events into the game in the future.”
Everything We Know About Phasmophobia’s Winter’s Jest Event
The Winter’s Jest Event for Christmas has now started and will be playable on all platforms (PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S) once you’ve downloaded the latest patch. The challenges can only be completed while you’re online.
Have you been naughty or nice? Krampus is coming…
Collectively as a community, we must do the following at each location for this event to gather enough points to unlock each tiered reward:
- Identify ghosts correctly
- Complete optional objectives
- Open any Krampus jack-in-the-boxes you find
Higher difficulties will reward more event points, for example; getting the ghost correct on Nightmare would reward 10 points, plus an additional 4 points for the difficulty.
Once a stage is complete, you must interact with the Christmas Tree in the Warehouse to receive your rewards.
The event maps are:
- Bleasdale Farmhouse - 1 Krampus Boxes
- 6 Tanglewood Drive - 2-4 Krampus Boxes
- Maple Lodge Campsite - 2-4 Krampus Boxes
- Point Hope - 4-6 Krampus Boxes
Here are the Rewards for the three tiers:
STAGE 1: (COMPLETED!)
- Krampus ID Card
STAGE 2: (COMPLETED!)
- Upgraded ID Card
STAGE 3: (COMPLETED!)
- Krampus Trophy
Krampus Box Locations in Winter’s Jest Event
Playing the Winter’s Jest Event is pretty much the same as the Halloween Event, as you locate the ghost room and start to gather evidence, you will want to keep an eye out for any Krampus Boxes. The red jack-in-the-boxes give you a little fright when you interact with them.
These Jack-in-the-boxes with a red star on them spawn randomly at preset locations. For example, one might occasionally appear in the Tanglewood living bedroom, but it won’t be in the same place on every hunt. Keep your wits about you and be on alert at all times. Krampus may appear to you with his Christmas Bells.

Last year's Christmas Holiday Snowmen Locations
Last year’s challenge took place in Sunny Meadows and involved locating three elusive components, each guarded by Snowmen concealed in different locations across the map.
To commence your quest, the initial components necessary for destroying the dancing snowmen can be found in Sunny Meadows. The first is situated in the left hallway near the entrance, specifically in the 6th room down, as indicated on the map provided in the image below.
The second piece of equipment can be found in the courtyard, positioned towards the back on the right-hand side. To assist in your search, we’ve marked its location on the map and included a screenshot of the specific Snowman you need to find, as shown below.
The last component necessary for forging the weapon resides deep within the lower levels of the Sunny Meadows Mental Institution. Make your way down the right-hand corridor. The essential item awaits in the third room you encounter, nestled in a bathtub surrounded by floating presents in murky water.
Keep an eye out for a snowman positioned outside the door – a distinctive marker to ensure you’re on the correct path. You’ll easily spot it once you’re heading in the right direction. We have provided screenshots below:
After completing the necessary steps above, you’ll find at your subsequent hunting site that four snow guns have been added to the equipment van. These can be utilized to destroy the dancing Snowmen scattered throughout the seven different maps.
When you access the map screen during your hunt, you’ll see a counter indicating the number of targets you need to locate. These can be quite challenging to find. You’ll find some outdoors, and there’s a possibility of discovering a few inside the equipment van.
While we didn’t find any hidden in cupboards or similar spaces, keep an eye out for some that might be tucked away behind doors or peering through windows. Make sure you look up high is our advice!

Phasmophobia's Christmas Holiday Event 2022
During 2022’s Christmas Event, players gathered six cookies on a plate to serve near the ghost. Once the plate was positioned near the ghost, it would then consume the cookies, much like when you place the Ghost Book and wait for the ghost to interact with it. This eerie moment would trigger a shroud of darkness over your vision, signaling the commencement of a hunt as clarity returned.
Survive this phase, and players would witness the ghost manifest for the duration of the hunt, donned in festive attire. Snow would also start falling outside. If you managed to successfully find the correct ghost type and escape the level, players would have completed the Christmas event. We will likely see some kind of challenge like this implemented for 2023’s Christmas Event.
Once we receive the initial details, we’ll promptly return to provide you with an update on the event.
