According to sources the recently acquired Mad Doc Software, which was rebranded as Rockstar New England, has got rid of their internal QA team.
Rockstar Games prefer to have a dedicated QA studio apparently, and so put out the hit on New England’s roster. The severance package is apparently a ”fairly generous” one.
”Several sources have confirmed to Kotaku that the entire QA department was shuttered, along with artists and a few other assorted staffers in other departments as well,” reports Kotaku.
Estimates place ”at least 10 percent of the studio” have been let go, but are generally being treated well and even helped to find new positions. The Andover, Massachusetts studio was acquired by Rockstar back in April of last year, dropping their Mad Doc moniker.
Rockstar New England have just pasted an international milestone on some unannounced project, and then the QA department falls on its sword for the good of all Rockstars everywhere. No word from the studio itself yet.
