The classic American football series from Tecmo will be arriving on XBLA next year, though it’s Wii version has been dropped in favour of something ”family oriented”.
Family Fun Football will replace their Tecmo Bowl Wii project. It’s a shame they made that ”business decision” but at least Tecmo fans can have their Bowl fix on Xbox 360.
They’d like to say Family Fun Football ”is a completely different game, it did start out as the ‘Tecmo Bowl Wii’ project,” said a company rep to G4.
”However, given the recent trend on the Wii and its target audience, Tecmo made a business decision to switch the project into a family oriented football game. So then what happens to Tecmo Bowl?”
”For now, we’re focusing on bringing Tecmo Bowl to the Xbox LIVE Arcade” continued the rep, adding it will arrive in ”early 2010.” There are no specific details about the XBLA title yet but E3 could change that.
