Rare’s Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts launched on November 11th in the US but only managed to scrape away with 140,000 sales.
Fable II, a fellow Xbox 360 exclusive title, launched three weeks prior and by the year’s end had sold over 1.2 million copies. Nuts & Bolts also failed to reach into the UK Top 40.
The gloomy sales news, courtesy of NPD figures, doesn’t seem to have dampened prospects of ‘Banjo-Tooie’ crashing onto XBLA sometime this April. Phew.
Ex-Xbox mobster Peter Moore has already delivered a rather blistering attack on the internal Microsoft Game Studios developer, noting that Rare’s ”skillsets were from a different time and a different place and were not applicable in today’s market.”
”It’s a strong statement but what they were good at, new consumers didn’t care about anymore,” he added, in his interview with The Guardian.
