Owners of Gears of War for PC have come to discover a problem as from January 28th 2009, the game ceases to play.
The games digital certificate has expired, an embarrassing oversight, and one that Epic is keen to sweep away. They’re ”trying to figure out how and why it happened” says the team.
”We have been notified of the issue and are working with Microsoft to get it resolved,” wrote Epic’s Joe Graf on the official forum.
”…this was a surprise to us too. We aren’t casting blame or chewing anyone out. We’re trying to figure out how and why it happened so we can get it fixed.”
A quick fix solution for now is to simply change the date manually on the PC to keep the certificate alive. Gamers are understandably upset and not so quick to promise they won’t ‘chew out’ Epic for this slip up.
