Bethesda parent group ZeniMax Media has acquired Arkane Studios, with the developer over the moon to ”join the family”, which includes id.
Pete Hines made the announcement at Quakecon and also said Arkane and Bethesda have partnered up on a project, but didn’t spill beans.
”We are extremely pleased to join the family of Bethesda and id Software,” said Raphael Colantonio, Arkane founder. ”I don’t know how it could be better.”
Hines gave the news of the deal during the introduction to John Carmack’s keynote speech at Quakecon, which took place yesterday. Specifics weren’t disclosed. He came back later adding they are collaborating on an ”unannounced project” together.
It will be ”a while before we’re talking about it” though warned Bethesda’s Hines. Future reveals on the project would come out of Quakecon he teased.
