It was ”able to meet” what fans of Final Fantasy wanted, said Wada-san. Still they’re unsure if it should become a ”new type” of game or not.
”I think this is a product that was able to meet the expectations for those who know Final Fantasy,” Wada-san told Gamasutra. ”There are all kinds of games around in the market today. Should Final Fantasy become a new type of the game or should Final Fantasy not become a new type of game?”
”The customers have different opinions. It’s very difficult to determine which way it should go.” Many complained the studio concentrated too much on the visuals and failed to deliver enough to do, like town hubs brimming with quests.
What say you Final Fantasy fan? Should the series move into new territory, effectively becoming more of an action game, or should it retreat back to tried-and-true JRPG? Maybe it could at least come to PC whatever they decided - eh?
