The current team on the 2nd game will be ‘let go’ once it ships say sources, with a secret project ”put on hold” until further notice; morale low.
These measures are all from new LucasArts president Paul Meegan who has had the job about 2 months. It seems his strategy is to eliminate high profile projects to help cut immediate costs and then… coast of what they’ve already got?
Sources claim that ”morale and productivity are at all-time lows” following these bigwig decisions over the little worker bees, and supposedly the Force Unleashed II PSP dev team found out about its canning from game news sites - ouch.
Another change said to be on the horizon is the scope of external projects, with Meegan wanting far less of them. That would mean BioWare’s Star Wars: The Old Republic would possibly be the last major development outside of LucasArts on their IP.
Does that mean danger for Traveller’s Tales and their LEGO Star Wars and Indiana Jones franchises? Whatever happens it looks like developers get a bad deal. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2 releases on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC October 26th.
This is all rumour for now and if we’re super lucky it can all be debunked.
