Microsoft’s console was ”already selling a lot” anyway but Kinect really hit the afterburners. Chart-Track wouldn’t give figures, but it’s a ”fair reflection”.
It’s quite the spike but then Kinect is no ordinary peripheral, or even ‘just another’ high-tech gizmo. UK sales spies Chart-Track said it was ”more than a fair reflection” to say the Xbox 360 sales figure was double that of the week previous to Kinect’s launch.
”360 doubled last week and it was already selling a lot. Wii and PS3 have been beaten by 360 consistently over the past few months,” said a publishing source. ”Wii is still outselling PS3 – the numbers are going the wrong way for Nintendo year-on-year but it’s certainly not a disaster.” Kinect retailed November 10th in the UK, separately and bundled.
Microsoft has already announced that Kinect has cleared a million sales in just 10 days. They expect to sell 5 million by the time 2010 comes to a close.
