Rocksteady is Warner’s latest studio acquisition, following Snowblind last year. The growing publisher also owns Mortal Kombat rights.
”Going forward, we hope to have them work on other Warner Bros. intellectual properties,” said Warner Bros Entertainment UK boss Josh Berger, reports VG247.
A sequel to Arkham Asylum is in the works at Rocksteady after they scored huge praise from critics and fans, producing what is now thought of as the greatest of all comic to videogame projects. It shows the core gamer has ”extremely high standards”.
”We have been looking to increase our development capacity and, as a high quality development studio, Rocksteady is a great fit for that strategy.”
“The acquisition of a majority stake in this leading games developer continues Warner Bros.’ pattern as one of the industry’s fastest growing games publishers,” continued Berger. Snowblind was bought by Warner last year, and Lego dev TT Games in 2007.
Batman: Arkham Asylum 2 was unveiled at the VGAs and was reported recently as arriving this October, but that turned out to be wrong as Warner admitted a mistake. Are you looking forward to UK-based Rocksteady’s next Batman instalment?
