A new campaign map with 32 regions is included and divided among 4 factions, all taking place on the Spanish Peninsula. No firm summer date.
It also includes three new agents to play with: the British and French provocateur, the Spanish and Portuguese priest and the Spanish Guerrillero. Also added is a new Political Alignment feature for the French to try and increase friendly sentiment.
”It is 1811 and the war in the Spanish Peninsula has been raging for over two years with mixed fortunes and heavy casualties for both sides,” begins the back story.
”Napoleon’s Armée d’Espagne, led by Marshal Masséna, has invaded Portugal once again, but thus far, the network of entrenchments has proved impossible for the French to successfully assail. Although forced back to the edges of their Peninsula by France and the traitors who helped them, Spain is not yet out of the fight.”
”The Supreme Central Junta and its successor, the Supreme Regency, authorized the forming of local bands to fight guerrilla – the “little war” – against the invaders.”
Tiradores, Cazadores, Lanceros, Husares and Leader are all new Guerrilla units recruitable by all nations. Portugal is not a playable faction in The Peninsular Campaign. It’s due out this summer with no price plan revealed yet.
A new Total War game is to be unveiled at E3 this year by Creative Assembly.
