With the sale of Rock Band developer Harmonix to investment firm Columbus Nova, MTV Games is no longer needed and so has closed down.
Only a small group of finance staff remain to handle any lingering business. Harmonix was sold after Rock Band 3 failed to hit big commercial numbers.
This Wednesday the international office of MTV Games, which was lead by UK videogames veteran Roy Campbell, closed for good. Despite not selling may Rock Band 3 copies near launch the game itself is a huge critical success with a 93 metascore.
Harmonix was bought in 2006 for $175 million.
