Sony has hired Philip Reitinger, formerly the director of the US National Cyber Security Center, and he’ll be handling a lot of PlayStation Network’s security.
The hack on Sony’s online services was certainly a ”catalyst for the appointment,” confirms a Sony rep. Hiring Reitinger is part of their plan to ”bolster” security.
Philip Reitinger is now a senior vice president of Sony and he’ll be based in Washington D.C., reporting to general counsel Nicole Seligman.
”Certainly the network issue was a catalyst for the appointment,” Sony told Reuters. “We are looking to bolster our network security even further.” The PlayStation Network was compromised in April and was left offline by Sony throughout May, returning in June.
