Warner Brothers Interactive has announced that the Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection is coming to PC, Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network this Summer. It will include adaptations of the first three arcade games, Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat II and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3.
”For the first time ever, the original Mortal Kombat arcade trilogy - Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat 2 and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 - have been brought together into a single collection which will be available for download in late summer 2011,” read the press release.
”We are very excited to finally have the first three Mortal Kombat games available in one download package for long-time and new fans to play,” said Ed Boon, creative director, NetherRealm Studios. ”With the release of our 2011 Mortal Kombat, and its return to 2D game play, players have been asking for these classic titles and we are happy to deliver them.”
This announcement followed a tweet from Warner Bros. saying: ”Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection takes gamers back to the arcades! Iconic arcade games will be available on XBLA, PSN & PC.”
The compilation is being developed by Other Ocean in conjunction with NetherRealm studios. It features online play, leaderboards, achievements and trophies, and will cost 800 MSP ($9.99 USD or £6.29 on PSN.)
Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 was released on Xbox Live Arcade years ago, but suffered online issues.
