Enough fans have wondered when a new game in the series would be released, and over the years rumors about Jade Empire 2 would pop up now and then. Bioware once again is responding to questions about its Jade Empire IP, and if another Jade Empire will ever be developed.
This time Marc Laidlaw has been answering the questions, and is coy about the subject: “Ha ha ha - we get asked that a lot. In fact I get asked that a lot because of my role on Jade. The thing with Jade Empire is ultimately it’s one of our intellectual properties, it’s there, and one that we’re intensely proud of. It did such a neat job of building this fantastical world.” He then added maddenly for any Jade Empire fan, ”Currently obviously nothing is announced. It’s one of those things that long-term, Jade (Empire) could make a comeback. It may, but we’ll see how time goes.”
Laidlaw finished, ”It’s something we look at every once in a while and consider - it’s just a matter of where the business is, and the team - making sure everyone is passionate about it before anything happens. It’s a number of situational things.”
It’ll be interesting to see what Bioware does once the Mass Effect trilogy is finished and Star Wars: The Old Republic is launched.
