One of the ideas that seems like it’ll be implemented into the MMO is instituting a Materia system that many veteran Final Fantasy players will recognize. According to Siliconera, ”The developers are working on a Materia system, which will allow the Disciples of the Hand to fuse materia to weapons and armor. They’ll need help from Disciples of the Land to retrieve catalyst items from the field. Finally, Disciples of War and Magic and use the materia fused gear to enhance their abilities on the battlefield.”
Final Fantasy XIV remains free-to-play for gamers who purchased it, as Square-Enix is suspending the subscription until the MMO is up to Square-Enix’s standards.
