Super Monday Night Combat developer Uber Entertainment has announced a new character for their free-to-play cel-shaded arena combat game, and it’s not even organic. The newest member of the SMNC team is a robot named Karl, who is described as ”a reconnaissance cyborg who just happens to think he’s human.”
According to Uber, ”Karl was one of twelve special reconnaissance cyborgs built by the governing overclass in order to infiltrate Outlander society.” His directive was to transmit valuable information to his creators, so Karl was given a host of abilities in order to escape detection. ”Karl was given the ability to collapse itself into human skeletal-like form and was given a biomedically engineered epidermis, synthetic blood and a room-filling orange afro.”
Karl eventually became the ”first known cyborg combatant in Monday Night Combat history.” His likes include ”being human, engaging in a wide range of activities typical to humans, having a broad emotional range,” while he dislikes ”robots, cyborgs, waiters that disappear before they bring you your check.”
Karl’s combat style is basically a Striker - a jack of all trades assault class. His special abilities have not yet been revealed.
Super Monday Night Combat will be launched as a free-to-play title sometime in Winter 2011.
