The long-running IP has ”roots in PC gaming” and won’t neglect them. Meier would also ”love to make another version” of Alpha Centauri but they don’t own it.
The latest incarnation for the Civ series is CivWorld for Facebook which has multiple people working together to build the most powerful nation they can and take out others.
”We’ve learned that social gaming offers tremendous opportunities for game developers, both in terms of the kind of experiences we can present to players, and the audience interested in gaming in that setting,” said Sid Meier of developer Firaxis.
”There seem to be endless ideas for Civ games, so as long as people keep wanting to play them, we’ll keep making them for all kinds of platforms.”
”Our hope is that people have fun when they play any of our games. If CivWorld peaks a player’s interest in trying Civ on the PC or Civ Revolution that would be great too.”
PC won’t be taking a back seat? ”Civilization has its roots in PC gaming and we intend to continue to deliver games for that platform as long as fans keep asking for them.”
”There are now Civilization games on PC, consoles, mobile devices and Facebook, so we’re not limiting our options on where Civ can be enjoyed,” he said.
Are you looking forward to Firaxis’ CivWorld on Facebook, videogamer?
