Activision social media manager Dan Amrich has confirmed that Guitar Hero DLC will go on hiatus - possibly permanently - come the end of April.
”With the release of April’s downloadable Track Packs, Guitar Hero as a franchise goes on vacation until further notice,” Amrich wrote. ”Some are sad to see it go, others happy–but of course, the music lives on. Those games and guitars are in your collection, and it’s easy enough to fire them up whenever you want to feel like a guitar hero. Long live rock.”
There is some sliver of hope for Guitar Hero fans. Activision VP of developer relationsDan Winters went on the record saying the series isn’t being canceled, ”We’re just not making a new one for next year; that’s all.”
