Also it appears Kojima’s trademark of ‘ZAN-DATSU’ - which translates to “cut and take” in English - has been dropped? Will MGS: Rising lose its slice and dice gameplay?
Rising is a spin-off from the main Metal Gear Solid plot, as Sons of Liberty star Raiden takes up the ninja blade. It was revealed he could cut through anything, from objects to enemies.
Kojima Productions trademarked the term ‘ZAN-DATSU’ which means ‘cut and take’ in English. Raiden is, or perhaps was, meant to cut things open to take things. The whole game emphasises action over the more traditional tactical espionage of the series, although they promised stealth would play a significant role.
As of October 31st the trademark has been abandoned by Kojima it seems. Hopefully fans of the game can be enlightened as to what’s going on when Spike TV’s Video Game Awards air this year.
Metal Gear Solid: Rising releases on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC next year.
