While UTV Ignition VP Don Choi claimed that only a ”fraction” of the True Studios staff had been laid off, an anonymous laid-off employee puts lie to that insistence, saying that in reality, a majority of the employees at the Austin-based True Games studio had been let go.
Even ore ominous, the source stated that the customer service division and all but one of the quality assurance staff was fired, and that the game’s studio in China will ”be closing in the next couple of weeks.”
Choi promises that Faxion Online “will continue to run and be updated frequently,” but did not comment on the potential closure in China when asked. However, UTV Ignition has been cutting its internal development in recent days in its desire to become a publishing-only company.
Gamasutra’s source complained, ”Their severance was a joke,” and assessed UTV Ignition as having ”demonstrated (an) inability to focus, plan or execute on many levels.”
