Publisher Paradox Interactive today unveiled the DLC included in Crusader Kings 3’s Chapter 4, shedding light on all the content coming to the grand strategy game throughout 2025. The Eurasian steppe will first receive a significant shakeup in terms of gameplay, as part of the Khans of the Steppe core expansion, which has already had its features detailed in developer diaries.
The second notable addition is the Coronation Event Pack, which grants rulers new ways of displaying wealth and power when taking the throne. Lastly, and perhaps most notably, we’ll set our sights eastward, visiting China, Japan, and Southeast Asia for the first time in the All Under Heaven major expansion.
Crusader Kings 3 Chapter 4
Crusader Kings 3: Khans of the Steppe will be released on April 28 for PC. It focuses on the Eurasian steppe and its people and introduces nomadic governments that rely on migration alongside tributaries as a new, more flexible alternative to traditional vassalage.
Here is a list of important features included in the core expansion, as detailed by the publisher in an emailed press release:
- Nomadic Government: Embrace a new way to rule. Nomadic Governments revolve around the lifeblood of your people, your Herd. Govern your realm through migration, keeping your population mobile and resilient. Increase your Dominance and bind your subjects to your will by ensuring their Obedience.
- The Steppe Region: Experience the challenges of life on the Great Steppe. The Steppe Season system changes the fertility of its lands over time, forcing you to adapt and migrate. Seek greener pastures, claim new territories, and dominate this vast and untamed region.
- Tributaries System: Forge alliances and secure resources with a new type of subject relationship. Tributaries offer a more flexible alternative to vassalage, granting unique benefits for overlords and subjects while allowing for independence and adaptability.
- Become the Scourge of God: Take on the mantle of the Great Khan and unite the Steppe under your iron rule. Lead devastating conquests across the known world, crushing empires beneath your banner as you fulfill the prophecy of the Scourge of God.
- Mongolian Flavour: Dive deep into the traditions and culture of the Mongols. Begin your journey with a new Bookmark as Temüjin, the young and ambitious Genghis Khan, poised to change history forever. Experience the Kurultai council and a new Mongolian succession type. Engage in immersive new activities and traditions such as new year’s celebrations with Tsagaan Sar.
Crusader Kings 3: Khans of the Steppe will be available for $19.99/£16.75/€19.99 or as part of the Crusader Kings 3: Chapter IV pack, which includes three other pieces of DLC.
CKIII’s Coronations event pack “highlights the decisions a ruler must make upon taking the throne,” by allowing us to prepare elaborate ceremonies which show our peers that we mean business.
Later in the year, Crusader Kings III: All Under Heaven finally answers why the in-game map was always torn on the right side, as if something was missing, by adding China, Japan, and Southeast Asia as locations we can rule and explore.
Each region offers “new types of government, special events, decisions, and roles for characters.”
Crusader Kings III: Chapter IV is available now for the price of $43.99/£37.15/€43.99, offering a 20% discount when compared to purchasing its DLC individually. Buying the pack also grants instant access to the Crowns of the World cosmetic DLC, which includes six new historic royal crowns, four new hairstyles, and two new beard designs for character portraits.
