Bayonetta ”would fit well” so the future could include her. At least her character designer, Mari Shimazaki, is contributing costumes as a ‘guest costume designer’ now she’s freelancing.
If you can’t have Bayonetta then at least the woman who designed her is including her costume talents in Soul Calibur V. She created newcomer Leixia’s primary wardrobe.
Mari Shimazaki also designed the alternate suits for Tira and Ivy. ”The Soul Calibur series has a lot of very beautiful women, so Bayonetta was of course considered,” said Producer Hisaharu Tago.
”However, Bayonetta not only uses a weapon but also special magical attacks that were beyond the project’s limit at the time of selecting, so this time she was taken off of the list.” Working alongside Namco’s Soul Calibur team is CyberConnect2 who is helping with the story, and Creative Intelligence Arts/Forcewick Sound Design with audio.
”I think having characters of various colors in Soul Calibur is the charm of the series. I think Bayonetta would fit well too, so I personally would like to see it – fighting scenes between Ivy and Bayonetta would be very interesting to watch,” said freelance designer, Mari Shimazaki.
Soul Calibur V releases on Xbox 360 and PS3 January 31st in the US, February 3rd in Europe.
