Games will become ”the heart” of Home, which means it is ”going to become a game” itself. The ”first things you see” will be games as it gets a major overhaul.
”This is a giant leap in the evolution of the platform,” said Home’s Jack Buser.
”We are going to ‘up level’ games as the heart of PlayStation Home. This means that Home itself is going to become a game. The first things you see when you get into Home are games.” Home launched back in 2008 as a virtual world but was troubled.
Since its initial inception the platform has undergone radical change especially in the wake of rising social networks. The central plaza in Home will become The Hub and it will offer users the chance to check activity boards for MMO-inspired missions within Home.
Game styles and genres will each get their own themed areas to be explored too. These changes are expected to put in effect this autumn. PlayStation Home hosts around 23 million registered PS3 owners with each spending on average 70 minutes online.
