Things just got a little darker regarding the current PSN outage. Satoshi Fukuoka, a spokesman for Sony Computer Entertainment in Tokyo, told PC World in an interview the same information that has been frustrating to PlayStation 3 users: PlayStation Network is down, and they don’t know when it’ll be back on again.
However, he let slip some information that could be a real problem, far more serious than not being able to play Call of Duty: Black Ops or Mortal Kombat online: they don’t know whether credit card information is safe or not.
In the interview, Fukuoka admitted ”the company has not yet determined if the personal information or credit card numbers of users have been compromised, but that Sony would promptly inform users if it found that was the case.”
Um, yikes?
