Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has been pirated and is floating around on Bit.Torrent. This time it seems like an inside job, after an unnamed employee at one of the game’s shipping warehouses in Fresno, CA absconded a disc from the two disc set for the PC.
This is deja vu for publisher Activision, because the same kind of piracy happened with both Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Call of Duty: Black Ops.
As with those games, the authorities have been quick to ferret out gamers who downloaded the illegal copy of the game. According to VentureBeat, investigators have been knocking on doors around the United States and asking people nicely to turn over and delete the pirated copies of the game, or be fined $5000 USD.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is due to be released on the 8th November worldwide on the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
