The Austin, Texas branch of Flextronics is the company responsible for Xbox 360 and the original Xbox. It’s likely these consoles are actually development kits for studios.
If the codenamed Durango really does reach us within the next couple of years then Microsoft and developers need to get their development kits put together to make that launch date.
Flextronics has issued no comment to IGN’s report; however Microsoft reiterates that Kinect and other fancy Xbox Live advancements are keeping Xbox 360 strong. ”Xbox 360 has found new ways to extend its lifecycle like introducing the world to controller-free experiences with Kinect and re-inventing the console with a new dashboard and new entertainment content partnerships. We are always thinking about what is next for our platform and how to continue to defy the lifecycle convention. Beyond that we do not comment on rumors or speculation,” said Microsoft.
