Markus “Notch” Persson has announced during an interview with the Penny Arcade Report that he may be starting over on his far future space sim 0x10c, stating that the game is simply ”not fun”.
According to Notch, “I might possibly start over, because it feels like… it’s not fun. The stuff you’re actually doing. If it’s not fun to walk around the spaceship then the game isn’t fun. So I need to figure that out and try to, not necessarily gamify, but add more instant gratification. ”
The game does have a working physics engine and room builder in place.
Notch also revealed in an interview with Penny Arcade that he may begin a Minecraft-style alpha release in early 2013, and players being charged 5 euro per month to subscribe to the multiverse multiplayer mode post-release.
“I always miss my terms, but I’m hoping to get something done in like six months,” he explained, “where people can actually play it without the multiverse and everything, preferably even sooner. It depends on how into the flow I get.”
