Turbine has announced the 6th major update for The Lord of the Rings Online called “Shores of the Great River”. The update will include a new area, The Great River Region, a new skirmish soldier companion, and a new instance finder update.
The new storyline has players traveling to Lothlórien to seek Galadriel’s wisdom, while investigating “grim tidings” along the Great River. Players will encounter brigands and ”an ancient enemy of Rohan”.
The new companion allows players to customize their own skirmish soldier who can be summoned to aid the player in battle, while the instance finder will allow players to queue for the specific instances and skirmishes. It will also allow players to change loot rules and remove players with a fellowship vote. Rewards will be enhanced as well, granting additional XP for skirmish completion and scaling currency bonuses for when players queue for a larger range of instances.
The new update is currently running a beta test on the test servers.
