When a game features multiplayer, the downloadable content tends to skew away from single player content to multiplayer content, with the usual new maps and weapons. BioWare producer Casey Hudson is reassuring gamers that while the DLC for Mass Effect 3 will indeed include some multiplayer DLC, they won’t ignore the story rich single player DLC that gamers had enjoyed in the previous two Mass Effects.
“There’s some multiplayer stuff, but we’re also planning some DLC on the single-player side, because it did really good in Mass Effect 2. There’s a reason why we can add stories to what’s there. The adventure-type DLC will happen in the time frame of Mass Effect 3, within your Mass Effect 3 storyline. It’s similar to how with Mass Effect 2,” Hudson promised in his interview with Game Informer.
Single player content will be seamlessly integrated into the story, much like the DLC from Mass Effect 2 was integrated.
“If you had a saved game from anywhere inside the game, you could go on to the DLC. We have a pretty neat concept for how it’s going to work,” Hudson hinted.
Mass Effect 3 is due to be released in early March for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
