Having already been revealed as a cover story on a German magazine, Dark Souls has been officially announced as a PC title by Namco Bandai. The game will be released on the platform as Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition, and will be a Games for Windows Live title.
Developer From Software has also announced that a new level will be in the PC version to help further expand upon the lore of the game. The new AArtorias of the Abyss will include all-new areas, enemies and bosses.
Namco Bandai producer Daisuke Uchiyama thanked the fans for showing support for a PC version of the challenging console game, itself the spiritual successor to the PlayStation 3 title Demon’s Souls.
“Our fans demanded to see this game brought to the PC, and the noise they have made was simply too loud and too passionate to ignore,” he praised. “This also allowed us to dive back into the world of Dark Souls, offering a special edition of the game that offers more ways to die over and over again than ever before. Adding a whole new chapter to tell the tale of the Dark Knight Artorias was an opportunity we’re also proud to have taken, as we’ve managed to expand the experience for our biggest fans without compromising the balance of the core game that we worked so hard to create. This edition of the game is our gift to the fans.”
Dark Souls: Prepare to Die was also given a release date as well. The game will be released in North America on the 21st August, and the 24th August worldwide.
