Heatwave has announced that their action-RPG MMO Gods & Heroes: Rome Rising will be dropping the monthly subscription fee, and will only require a one time purchase of the game.
According to a post on the official blog, ”The Gods & Heroes team has been working hard over the past few months to secure the future of the game by taking it to a free-to-play model. Such a change is a significant undertaking; one that requires a large investment in time and resources to make this major transition a success.
In the interim, we have made the decision to eliminate subscription fees and offer G&H players immediate and unlimited access to all areas of the game until the new Free-to-Play model has been finalized and implemented. In addition, we are dropping the price of the Gods & Heroes game next week to $9.99/£7.99/€9.99. (G&H can be purchased at most physical and digital retailers or at godsandheroes.com.)”
Gods & Heroes: Rome Rising was released on the 21st June, 2011, and received poor-to-mixed reviews, earning a Metacritic aggregate score of 50. The game suffered a long development cycle, with work on the game beginning in 2005 but entering an extended hiatus in 2007 before finally being released in 2011.
