Devil’s Third, the current project by ex-Team Ninja lead Tomonobu Itagaki, is not inspiring any confidence for THQ, as the publisher is reportedly distancing itself from the game. During the investor conference call, CEO Brian Farrell revealed that THQ was shopping the game around.
Farrell revealed, ”The profitability of Devil’s Third was not competitive with our other releases.”
The game already was in trouble when the middleware developer making the game’s engine went out of business. The monetary exchange rate, with the yen getting stronger, make the game’s profitability less likely. The game also missed the Tokyo Game Show, which raised some red flags.
Devil’s Third is the first project for Valhalla Game Studios, formed by Itagaki, and debuted at E3 2010.
