Sony Online Entertainment has announced unique log-ins for EverQuest have increased by 150%, a result of the title going free-to-play in March.
After the success of turning EverQuest II free-to-play last December, which saw unique log-ins rise by 300%, Sony’s decision to apply the same model to the original game looks to have paid off. How else would you provide a 13-year old MMORPG with new life?Purchases of in-game items have also increased rapidly, and are up by 125%.
With a project known as “EverQuest Next” and Planetside 2 in the works, expect to see this model adopted early on by SOE.
