Day 1 Studios unveiled the new project that they’d teased a few days ago, calling it a “return to their roots.” While it isn’t MechAssault, it is a third-person fast-paced mech combat game, Reign of Thunder. What is somewhat surprising is that it is a free-to-play title.
”Combining the customization and RPG elements of the early MechWarrior PC and board games with the fast paced arcade action of the MechAssault series and making it all Free-to-Play is an exciting opportunity to be part of. I’m dying to get Thunder in the hands of new and old Mech pilots alike and battle it out. The best part is that time is very, very near,” stated Red 1 Studios creative director TJ Wagner in the press release.
Day 1 also released a gameplay trailer, showing off exactly what to expect from the mech game. Check it out in the video below.
