This so far is the biggest indication that Titan isn’t a fantasy adventure, and that it’s set in a modern day world of sorts. The product placements must ‘enhance the gameplay’.
The post tasks the applicant with liaising with ”major consumer brands” to see if they can fit in Titan’s MMO universe, as well as help expand the IP into merchandising, books, comics, etc.
”Be the key evangelist for producing products which expand the next-gen MMO brand outside of the gaming industry, ensuring alignment with Blizzard Entertainment’s overall brand strategy,” reads the first responsibility for the Franchise Development Producer position on the Blizzard Titan team.
A little further down and we get our first tease for the type of IP that Titan might be about, and it seems fantasy is out the window for something a lot more ground in reality and modern?
”Work with major consumer brands to facilitate product placement and licensing within the world of Blizzard Entertainment's next-gen MMO that enhances the gameplay experience,” it continues.
Blizzard has been adamant that Titan isn’t related to any existing IP franchises in the Blizzard war chest, with president Mike Morhaime calling it ”something that’s completely new and fresh”. Wouldn’t it be quite the surprise if it was Blizzard that managed to pull off a GTA style MMO? We’ll just have to keep painfully waiting.
