They’re well ahead of schedule so that means 26 days full of bonus monies for the project. Over 11,300 backers have pledged just over $516k as of press time. They currently have $1.85m.
The PC exclusive space sim hit Kickstarter after his own website was flattened under the enormous interest for the mighty CryEngine 3-powered Star Citizen.
The studio relented and added it to Kickstarter for those who prefer to use its services to pledge cash, and they’ve easily breezed past their half a million goal. Together with pledges from Roberts’ RSI website, the total is hovering around $1.85 million in crowd-sourced funds. The rest comes from private investors, but not publishers.
”Hey, we hit our $500,000 goal on Kickstarter!” tweeted an elated Ben Lesnick, community manager at Cloud Imperium Games. ”Onward to $3 million! New stretch goals and a ships plan SOON!” Stretch goals allow the project owners to offer further incentives to potential backers by promising additional features or goodies if new targets are met.
