The Secret World has sold 200,000 copies since its launch in July, according to Funcom’s Q2 financial report.
The studio has blamed lower-than-expected reviews and competing games for the mediocre sales figures. It is understood the studio will now focus on developing smaller titles in the future.
“The Company will concentrate its new development on more focused, systems-driven games that have a high degree of community and player interaction,” read the financial statement.
”These games require less time and development cost to bring to market.”
Funcom recently took cost-cutting measures when ”around 50% of staff in all offices” were let go. Tough times ahead for all.
