The Kickstarter fundraising drive for Mighty No. 9, a spiritual successor to the classic Mega Man series, has finally concluded, and the game raised more than $3.8M, far beyond the $900K the game was looking to raise. The final stretch goal passed has added the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Vita as platforms for the scrolling shooter.
Mighty No. 9 became the third largest fundraiser for a videogame ever on Kickstarter.
In the most recent update, Mega Man creator Keiji Inafune wrote to fans and backers, ”You. Are. UNDEFEATABLE! UNSTOPPABLE! UNBELIEVABLE!!!”
Inafune also posted some of the reams of fan art and tributes sent to him in the update.
Mighty No. 9 is expected to be released on PC and multiple consoles both current- and next-gen in the Spring of 2015.
