Sony Online Entertainment showed off Everquest Next gameplay for the first time at SOE Live 2013, and the future seems to be voxels, as the MMO displayed itself as an action-RPG MMO with real-time combat and destructible environments.
EverQuest Next also aims to break the World of Warcraft mold with advanced “emergent” AI, the ability to permanently change and build the game alongside the dev team, and “horizontal” level advancement where players don’t grind - rather, they accomplish feats to gain new abilities.
