D3 has announced that its Marvel-licensed version of Puzzle Quest is now available on Steam. Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign is free-to-play, and supported by macrotransactions.
The game, which was originally released on mobile, allows players to take on the roles of famous Marvel heroes like Spider-Man and Thor and go head to head against regular mooks up through to other supervillains.
Combat uses the same match-3 gameplay mechanic as previous Puzzle Quest games. Matching colors boosts the player’s skills while attacking the enemy. Players can also earn experience for their heroes to unlock new abilities.
Players can buy special packs, from the $9.99 USD S.H.I.E.L.D. New Recruit Pack to the $99.99 Nick Fury’s Doomsday Plan, adding various amounts of Hero Points to accelerate the experience.
