Black Cloud Studios has taken to Kickstarter with a dream; a dream of a sci-fi post-apocalyptic RPG channelling Fallout 1/2, Baldur’s Gate and Planescape: Torment as inspirations. They call it After Reset.
The California-based indie is focusing on three pillars: A post-apocalypse atmosphere, a non-linear story and hardcore mechanics. The team are asking for $900,000 to end the world.
Already the project has been Greenlit on Steam having done so after just five days. After Reset takes place 132 years after the cataclysm that shakes the world.
There are some impressive concept art works teased as well as in-game shots of After Reset. A bit of backstory is provided for what’s going on in this shattered world with promises of nonlinear freedom. The RPG starts in that time old classic way: we wake up finding our self ”on the floor of some kind of laboratory, completely naked and surrounded by shards of broken glass and spilled liquids.” From there everything is about choice.
”Where to go, what to do, whether to listen to the voice or not, to try to figure out your story or not – it all depends on you. I don’t want to spoil too much of the game for you, so I’ll only add one more thing – no matter where you go, or who you decide to become in the expanses of the Great Desert, your personal story will find you. Like in Baldur’s Gate 1, you’re totally free to explore the world, but the story will follow you like your shadow.”
There’ll also be companions along the way with at least four available. Check out the After Reset Kickstarter campaign to learn a lot more. It has 28 days to raise $900,000 with a little over $6,000 raised so far.
