Blue Byte’s Anno Online is now entering the open beta phase for English speaking gamers. The free-to-play strategy sim has been developed with features suited to a ”persistent, web-based game.”
Ubisoft announce the closed beta was a ”great success due to the high stability” of Anno Online, with testers given a decorative gift in thanks. A premium ship is also offered if they keep testing.
Also closed beta accounts won’t be closed or wiped but carried over. Right now English users can go ahead and create their accounts on the Anno Online website.
Anno is Ubisoft’s daisy chain strategy simulator that spreads across multiple islands as factions vie for control of crucial resources. Naturally you can trade those resources or beef up a hostile fleet and go take them. Developer Blue Byte is behind Anno Online, who gained fame from Battle Isle in 1991 and The Settlers back in 1993.
