Mojang’s gift to humanity is being updated in ”pretty significant ways” that those old timey saves couldn’t comprehend. 4J Studios has reportedly been in chats with Mojang over supporting save transfers.
There has been a tremendous uptake of Minecraft for Xbox 360, and so naturally Microsoft want to make sure it’s there to whittle away your life on Xbox One.
”No, it’s a new product on Xbox One,” Spencer replied, when asked if worlds carry over. ”We’re actually updating it in pretty significant ways for the new platform. Bigger worlds, which don’t translate between the Xbox 360 and the Xbox One.”
”We’re seeing tremendous usage of Minecraft on the system, so we wanted to make sure it was one of the things that were there for people to go and create on day one,” he said. ”Obviously this is Mojang’s game, and I’ve had good discussions with Notch about where he sees this franchise going, trying to create a more connected Minecraft world where your creations can go with you from device to device, but I haven’t talked to them about where they are on that path.”
The new Minecraft, which looks just like the old one, is going to be wielding the mighty powers of Xbox One’s fancier multiplayer features, boast Microsoft. It’s possible these worlds could be saved to the cloud if they want to encourage more devices sharing these player-built worlds.
Is this a definite ‘no your saves won’t work’ or more of a ‘I’m saying no, but I don’t actually know to say no’ kind of no? Oh Microsoft, you and your mixed message agenda. In any case - PC wins, so there!
