Games Workshop has given the green light to mobile dev HeroCraft to produce a turn-based collectible card game based on Warhammer 40,000’s Space Wolves. It will release next year for PC and iOS.
The studio promises a branching campaign as the Space Wolves battle the Necrons and Word Bearers, as well as strategic paths to choose between. Decks command squads in 3D.
Warhammer 40,000: Space Wolf doesn’t focus solely on duelling through decks, but instead command squads navigating 3D environments. Card games seem to be on the rise again.
“HeroCraft have presented us with a unique and exciting vision for a game based on this most evocative and barbaric chapter of Space Marines – the Space Wolves,” says Games Workshop’s Jon Gillard. “Given that, their clear passion for the IP, and their experience in the market, we are only too happy to be working with them on this project.”
You can thank the Emperor it’s not a MOBA. Recently Blizzard surprised the World of Warcraft community with the announcement of Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft. They seem to be trending all of a sudden. Go pop culture!
