Have you ever wanted to be an Octodad? Good news friend, thanks to the facial motion software Facerig, which maps your face onto animated characters allowing you to manipulate their movements, you can live your dream.
Developer Young Horses, the team behind madcap puzzle game Octodad: Dadliest Catch, let Facerig load their hapless hero into the software, and the result is strangely impressive.
”Young Horses Inc. (the makers of Octodad - Dadliest Catch) were among the first to reply to our inquiry about having FaceRig avatars made after their licensed characters,” reads the videos’s blurb. ”(This) is the same poly-count as they use in-game, for authenticity.”
The team at Facerig plans to launch the software in August this year. The idea is to allow users to map their facial expressions onto a variety of characters, and presumably change the face of Skype chats forever.
