The first Alpha for Epic’s sandbox action title Fortnite gets underway today, beginning what the developer very pithily calls “Fortnite Alpha Fortnight”.
Very clever. Epic says that the game’s blend crafting and zombie-smiting is currently “still rough around the edges”, but that early testing will help straighten out any flaws.
Fortnite gives players the tools to create extravagant forts, weapons and traps, and then sends a bunch of gribbly monsters out to kill them. It’s Left 4 Dead with a hint of Minecraft, basically. Unfortunately the Alpha is invite only, but Epic says that there’s still a chance for interested players to join in.
“If you haven’t recieved an invite yet,” the developer writes in an announcement post, “don’t lose hope! There are more invites going out later this week and some of those invited have friend invites to share.”
